GIFT OF GAB CLASSES FOCUS ON HELPING OTHERS FIND THEIR VOICE AND THE JOY OF COMMUNICATION.
CHILDREN
Groups are based on age and skill level and are usually no more than 4-6 children with a highly skilled and experienced speech therapist. The speech therapists on our team have at least 10 years-experience working as a speech pathologist with a diverse population and providing group therapy. Our groups are small to provide the most optimal environment for growth as well as more individualized attention to target goals.
Group sessions run for 60 minutes. Your therapist will engage each child and focus on needed skills such as turn taking, topic maintenance, when to change topics, reading social cues, asking and answering questions, finding common interests, etc. in a natural child-led manner. Children are made to feel safe being themselves regardless of ability and skill level all while learning communication skills.
For those children who use Augmentative/Alternative Communication devices to be their voice, we want to hear you! We want your children who use AAC to be part of the conversation. Our speech therapists are fluent in Proloquo2go, touchchatHD, Gotalk Now Plus, TD snap, talk suite, proloquo4text, grid3, speak for yourself, LAMP, WFL, and much more. Our groups will focus on younger elementary children with single word based selections or phrased based selections, and our speech therapist will help students move from their current selection to more complex selections as the children move through the semester.
